Lawrence L. Bell 1929 - 2003

Lawrence L. Bell, 73, Minot, died Monday, May 12, 2003, in his residence.

He was born on December 31, 1929, in Northfield, VT, to Clifford and Leona (Abbott) Bell. He was raised and educated in the North field area. Following his schooling, he worked for an area woodworking and veneering mill. He married May Belle Dutchman on June 12, 1948 in Vermont. He entered the United States Army in 1950, and served until his honorable discharge in 1952. He returned to his family in Vermont and worked for several businesses in the Northfield and Barre, VT. He worked for Northend Motors, Montgomery Wards, and the Flint Sawmill. He retired in 1989. He moved with his wife to Minot in 1992. His wife died in 1994. He continued to live in Minot until the time of his death.

Lawrence was a former member of the Moose Lodge in Vermont. He was an avid fisherman, bowler, horseshoe and softball player.

Survivors: nine children, Lawrence Bell Jr., South Barre, VT, John Bell, Foxholm, ND, Edward (Kay) Bell, East Barre, VT, Clinton (Cyndi) Bell, Washington, VT, Margaret (Guy) Surprenant, Minot, Janet (Steve) Miller, Barre, VT, Rose (John) Willis, Montpelier, VT, Karen (Dave) Machell, Barre, VT, Lynda (James) Parente, Mouldon, MO; 24 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Nelson (Lottie) Bell, Washington, VT, and Ronald (Evelyn) Bell, Barre, VT; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. His wife, two daughters, Joyce Sanborn and Patricia Bell, and six brothers and sisters preceded him in death.

Memorial Service: Monday, May 19, 2003, 7:00 p.m. at Hooker-Wickomb Funeral Chapel, Barre, VT.
