James Alvin Bell, Jr. was born June 22, 1924, a son of James A. Bell, Sr. and Irene Bell, in Rock, Kansas. He was raised and educated in Kansas.

Jim enlisted in the United States Navy June 4, 1943. He proudly served his country during WWII and was honorably discharged August 29, 1945.  

Following his honorable discharge, Jim began his career in the oil field and had his own oil field consultant business. Due to his work, Jim lived throughout the United States. In 1957, he moved to North Dakota, where he continued his business.

Jim married Beverly Jenstead September 2, 1980, in Minot. They made their home in Minot.

Jim was a former member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Flaxton and in 1984, became a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Minot. He was also a member of the American Legion.

He enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening, and having coffee with his fellow oil field friends.

Surviving family includes:  wife, Beverly, Minot; daughters, Patricia, Elisabeth and Janice;  
a number of grandchildren, sisters, Florence Beall and Joyce Crow, Arkansas City, Kansas;
and nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Gene and Jerry Bell; and a sister.

Funeral: Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Minot

Interment:
  will take place at a later date.

Visitation: 
Monday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials
: In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Minot.
