Marilyn A. Behnkie 1938 - 2004 Marilyn A. Behnkie, 66, 310 2nd St SE, Minot, died Tuesday, January 27, 2004, at her residence of natural causes. She was born on January 23, 1938, in Grafton, ND, the daughter of William and Mary Catherine (Peterson) Mondry. She was raised in rural Minto and graduated from Minto High School in 1956. After graduation Marilyn attended Aaker's Business College, Grand Forks, ND. She was once married to Arthur James Behnkie and the couple lived in New Jersey and North Carolina. In 1975, the family moved to North Dakota where they lived in Carpio and later in Glenburn where she served on the Glenburn Ambulance Service. In 1998, Marilyn moved to Minot, where she was employed through Experience Works at Ward County Public Library and then Companions for Children, where she worked at the time of her death. Marilyn was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, Companions for Children, Foster Grandparents Organization and the Milton Young Towers Tenant Association all of Minot. Survivors: sons, Thomas (Lisa) Behnkie, Warminster, PA, Richard Behnkie, Minot and James Behnkie, St. Cloud, MN; daughters, Cynthia (Larry) Roush, Arvada, CO, Rebecca Behnkie, Minot and Michelle (Jeff) Schei, Albertville, MN; 10 grandchildren; brothers, Allen Mondry, and Lyle (Mary) Mondry, all of Minto; sisters, Kay Theroux, Minto, Shirlee (Tom) Thompson, Janesville, IA, Mary Ellen (Gene) Balek, Manvel, ND, and Karen Ebertowski, Minto; 19 nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers-in-law. Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, January 30, 2004, at 2 p.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. Rosary Recitation: Friday, January 30, 2004, at 1:30 p.m. at the church. Visitation: Thursday, January 29, 2004, from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot. Burial will take place in the spring of 2004.
