Irvin W. Beecher 1923 - 2006

Irvin W. Beecher, 82, 1929 West Central, Minot, died Friday, November 24, 2006, in a Minot hospital.

Irvin was born on December 6, 1923, in Tolley, ND, the son of Homer and Dora (Bristol) Beecher. He was reared in Eckman and Russell, ND and graduated from Russell High School in 1941. Irvin entered the United States Army on October 23, 1943, serving during World War II as a Heavy Machine Gunner. He was honorably discharged on May 19, 1945, and was honored with three Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart that he received on August 18, 1944. After his discharge, Irvin returned to North Dakota for a short period before moving to Montana where he learned the art of baking from his Uncle, Leslie Beecher.

In 1962, Irvin returned to Minot, ND, where he went to work for City Bakery and then later Nash Finch CO-Wholesale Food Distributors. Irvin married Marjorie Rieniets Visocsky on October 2, 1965, in Stanley, ND. Irvin and Marjorie made their home in Minot. Irvin retired from Nash Finch in 1986. After his retirement, Irvin enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family. He was once married to Ione Strom.

Irvin was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Disabled American Vets and the Minot American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Eagles Aerie and the World War II Last Mans Club, all of Minot.

Survivors: wife, Marjorie, Minot; son, Wayne (Linda) Visocsky, Minot; daughter, Janet (Terry) Larson, Glenwood City, WI; grandchildren, Chris and Casey Visocsky and Brad, Steve and Chad Larson; great grandchildren; Gavin, Kadin and Jett Visocsky; brother, Adrian (Evelyn) Beecher, Minot; sister, Marlene (Tom) Oster, Bottineau, ND; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Darol and Junior Beecher.

Funeral Service: Wednesday, November 29, 2006, 10:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot

Visitation: Tuesday, November 28, 2006, from Noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park Veterans Section, Minot.
