Laurella "Lou" Baumgartner, 69, Makoti and Ryder, ND, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009, in a Minot hospital.

Laurella Faye Lindahl was born July 14, 1939, a daughter of John and Olyda (Anderson) Lindahl, in Stanley, ND. She was raised and educated in Tagus, ND. As a young adult, she assisted her parents with the operation of the family farm.

Lou was once married to Derrold Schalesky. From this union, eight children were born. Lou and her children had resided in the Max/Douglas area.

On December 5, 1980, Lou married Ron Baumgartner in Minot. They made their home in the Ryder, ND, area.

Lou enjoyed fishing, crocheting, knitting, playing Bingo, going to the casino, dancing, and listening to music. She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and card player. She was an excellent cook and baker and especially enjoyed holiday get togethers with her family. Lou was full of life and she loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving family includes:
husband of 29 years, Ron, Ryder; daughters, Faye (David) Zieman, Minot, Coreen (Artie Hanson) Noack, Makoti, Lori (Darrell) Bruns, Makoti, Melinda (John) Smith, Plaza, and Ronda (Mark) Kemmit, Minot; sons, Clint (Tami) Schalesky, Dickinson, Jerry (Carla) Schalesky, Stanley, Jason (Stacy) Schalesky, Newcastle, WY; 20 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Myrtle Moore, Williston, ND, Eloise Watson, Glasgow, MT, Elaine Lindahl, Newport Coast, CA; and Lola (Dale) Hagen, Minot; brother, Albert (Connie) Lindahl, Sawyer, ND; aunt, Norma Anderson, Minot; special friend, Dorothy Steele, Makoti, ND; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lou was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Elmer "Bud", Norman, Donny, Alvin and Clayton; grandparents, Ole and Rose Anderson and Ernest and Johanna Lindahl.

Funeral: Thursday, May 14, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at Hope Lutheran Church, Makoti.

Interment: St. Olaf Lutheran Cemetery, Tagus, ND.

Visitation: Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
