Michael A. Bauer • 1932 - 2005 Michael A. Bauer, 73, Minot, ND, and formerly of Tolley, passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2005, after a brave fight with pneumonia surrounded by all his family in Trinity Hospital. Michael was born on February 7, 1932, the son of John M. and Mary (Zeltinger) Bauer on the family farm, located in Sauk Prairie Township of Ward County, rural Tolley, North Dakota. He was raised in Tolley and educated at Sauk Prairie Township School. As a young adult, he assisted his parents with the operation of the family farm. He graduated from Tolley High School in 1950. Michael married Louise Raney on June 30, 1954, in Sherwood, ND. They made their home in Greene, ND, for a short time. They then made their home in rural Tolley, where he farmed small grains. In the 1960's, he worked for Fisher Construction in Mohall. He was a farmer all his life. His children assisted him with the operation of the family farm throughout the years. He retired from farming in 1985, and his son, Jeffrey Bauer and family continues to farm today. Michael was baptized and confirmed at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Tolley. He was a former member of St. Jerome's Catholic Church in Mohall. Most recently, he was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church in Minot. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, spending time visiting with family and friends. He also enjoyed listening to country western music. He loved helping, and would volunteer his time to help the nurses and residents in Trinity Homes. He would also visit those that were sick at the hospital. Surviving family includes: children, Jerome Bauer (Anne MacDonald), Kenmare, Steven (Bonnie) Bauer, Beulah, Jeffrey (Connie) Bauer, Kenmare, Michele (Jim) Johnson, Plaza, Teresa (Brad) Klipfel, Beulah, Julie (Carl) Ness, Bismarck, Gary (Mary) Bauer, Minot, Tony (Cathy) Bauer, Lakeville, MN, and former wife, Louise Bauer, Kenmare.grandchildren, Alyssa (Spencer) Homan, James (Jill) Bauer, Emmy (Jeremy) Handeland, Shawna Johnson, Jennifer Bauer, Mandy (Josh) Riegel, Brett Johnson, Cody Bauer, Brittany Ramsdell, John Bauer, Jordan Johnson, Katie Klipfel, Jaclyn Bauer, Nicholas Ness, Lance Klipfel, Derek John "D.J." Ness, Jacob Bauer, Anna Bauer and Drew Anthony Bauer. great-grandchildren, Kathyrn Handeland, Nevin Ramsdell, Hunter Handeland, Taelynn Johnson, Derrick Handeland, Mason Riegel and Lucas Bauer. sisters, Marcia Elsbernd, Crosby, Florence (Dean) Lautenschlager, Kenmare. aunts, Irene Pommier, Agnes Jochim, Hazel Jochim, and Cecelia Zeltinger. and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, Roger Elsbernd. Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, July 16, 2005,
