Alice Bauer • 1913- 2006 Alice O. Lien was born on August 7, 1913, the daughter of Peter and Mathia (Bjerke) Lien on the family farm, south of Blaisdell, ND. She attended a country school south of Blaisdell and graduated from Plaza High School. After graduating from high school, she earned her teaching certificate and taught at the Ringeon School. She also worked at a confectionary in Williston and as a child caregiver in the eastern part of the state. Alice married William E. Bauer on October 12, 1938, in Stanley, ND. They made their home on the Bauer family farm south of Tagus, ND. After their retirement, they moved to Minot in 1984, spending summers on the farm. William passed away on May 18, 1986. Following the death of her husband, she resided with her daughter, Donna, in Minot. She was a member of the St. Olaf Lutheran Church and the St. Olaf Ladies Aid in Tagus. She later joined the Bread of Life Lutheran Church, Minot. Her hobbies included crocheting, lunching with her friends and working her puzzles. Alice is survived by: her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Harrison Myers, Berthold, ND, and daughter, Donna Matejovic, Minot, ND; four grandchildren, Bradley (Michelle) Myers, Andrea (Randy) Anderson, William Matejovic, and Mark Myers; two great-grandchildren, Shane and Kevin Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; a sister, Myrtle Anderson; four brothers, Oscar, Bernhard, Parnell, and Arthur Lien; and an infant sister. Funeral: Wednesday, August 30, 2006, at 10:30 a.m.
