Arthur "Art" Bauer 1915 - 2004 Arthur "Art" Bauer, 89, Minot, formerly of Butte, ND, died Friday, October 22, 2004, in a Minot nursing home. Mr. Bauer was born to Henry and Caroline (Pfau) Bauer on the family farm outside of Butte, on April 27, 1915. He was raised and educated in that area. He entered the United States Army in 1943. Mr. Bauer fought in the Battle of the Bulge while serving with Company B, 395th Regiment, 99th Infantry Division. Twice he was awarded the Bronze Star for combat heroism. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He married the late Enid Kocher in Washburn, ND in 1940. They divorced in 1946. He married the late Gladys Schulstad in Pontiac, Michigan in 1947. In that same year, he and his partner, Leonard Anderson, purchased the Butte Motor Company that they operated together until 1968. Art continued operating the business until his retirement in 1990. For seven years, Mr. Bauer was Commander of American Legion
Post 270 in Butte. He was a member of the American Legion Forty'n
Eight; the World War II Last Man's Club of Minot; the Battle
of the Bulge Survivors Association; and the Minot Elks, Eagles
and Moose Lodge. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church
of Butte. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, Enid and Gladys,
brothers, Otto, Adolph, Eugene, Carl and Mike, and sisters Pauline
Bauer, Nellie Emerson, Anne Kritsky, and Hattie Kocher, as well
as four siblings who died in infancy. Funeral Service: Wednesday, October 27, 2004, at 11
