Mary Bartsch 1911 - 2006 Mary Bartsch, 95, Minot, died Tuesday, October 31, 2006, in a Minot nursing home. Mary Kuntz was born on September 1, 1911, the daughter of John and Angela (Duchscherer) Kuntz in Blumenfeld, ND. She was educated in farm schools in that community for eight years. She worked as a helper on various farms and in 1930, she was employed at a hospital in Drake, ND, as a cleaning maid. About 1931, Mary took a job at the Drake Hotel as a chambermaid and dishwasher. She worked in cook's car in the summer during threshing season. On October 24, 1933, she was united in marriage to Theodore "Ted" Bartsch in Blumenfeld Church, near Orrin, ND. They farmed near Balfour, ND, and later moved to Bergen, ND, where they farmed for 32 years, retiring in 1964. Mary and Ted then moved to Minot, ND, where Mary worked for the Walsh and Holiday Spot motels, and also for I. Keating Furniture World. They lived in Minot for the remainder of their 68 years of marriage. Ted died December 3, 2001. She continued to reside in Minot. Mary was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot, and a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Balfour, ND. Mary enjoyed crocheting, playing cards and bingo, and spending time with all her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed cooking and baking. She would always put on coffee and something to eat when family and friends came to visit. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Mary is survived by: Three sons: Anton (Jeanie) Bartsch,

Bartsch, Minot, 40 grandchildren, 74 great grandchildren and
two great-great grandchildren: one sister, Elizabeth Schiele,
Velva, brothers, Paul (Rose) Kuntz, Martin Kuntz and Gabriel
(Jean) Kuntz, all of Great Falls, MT, sisters-in-law, Tillie
Kuntz and Theresa Kuntz, both of Minot. Numerous nieces, nephews
and cousins also survive. Visitation: Friday, November 3, 2006, from noon until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, and then from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady Of Grace Catholic Church, Minot Vigil Prayer Service: Friday, November 3, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, November 4, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.
