Irene Adelia Barcus 1907 - 2002 Irene Adelia Barcus, 95, Minot, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at ManorCare Health Services, Minot. Irene was born March 4, 1907, in Pinetop Township, Koochiching County, MN, the daughter of Robert and Sarah (Grosfield) Clark. She was raised and educated in Havre, MT. She attended St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Minot, graduating in 1932. Due to tuberculosis, Irene was unable to work for the next ten years. She became a registered nurse in 1943, and was employed for a time by the Northwest Clinic in Minot. She was later employed at the North Dakota State Tuberculosis Sanatarium in San Haven, ND, where she worked as floor supervisor and also worked in surgery. She was once married to O.M. Olson of Wellsburg, ND, and later H.G. Larsen of Mohall, ND, both preceded her in death. On May 16, 1953 she married Russell E. Barcus. He died January 27, 1983. Irene had been a member of First Lutheran Church, Minot, since 1954, and served with the First Lutheran Church Women circles, altar guild, and later the quilters. She also belonged to the Compass Friendship Club for several years. Survivors: Stepson, Capt. Richard E. (Shirley) Barcus, Colorado Springs, CO; grandsons, Capt. Richard (Kristen) Barcus, and their children, Katherine "Kate", Matthew and Hannah; and Steven Barcus, and his children, Aaron and Jacob; numerous cousins also survive in Ada, MN. She was preceded in death by her husbands; parents, and one sister, Alice Clark. Funeral: Saturday, July 27, 2002, 11:00 a.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Visitation: Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
