Curtis Dale Balerud 1959- 2010 Curtis was born February 28, 1959, in Minot, ND to Linn and Ann (Kraft) Balerud. He was raised and educated in Minot and graduated from Minot High School. Following graduation he worked for Hutton Contruction for several years. In 1978 he enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in Washington State, and served until his honorable discharge in 1981. Following his discharge he returned Minot, where he worked for John Broten Lumber and later Leo's Cabinet Shop. He worked there until a car accident in 1983, forced him to retire. Those who shared in his life, significant other, Bev Sturm, Minot; son, Scott Balerud, New Town, who is serving with the North Dakota National Guard, TFF MEB 141 in Kosovo; daughter, Keri (Donny LaVallie) Balerud, Rolette, ND; one granddaughter, Alexis LaVallie; brother, Dennis (Mary Ann) Kraft, San Antonio, TX; sister, Cheryl Richeson, Minot, ND; twin brother and sister, Daryl (Mary Lou) Balerud, Bismarck, ND and Debbie Forman, Minot; sister, Lynette (Donald) Richeson, Olympia, WA; brother, Bruce (Lori Long) Balerud, Williston, ND, and sister, Julie (Leslie) Zuck, Balfour, ND; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Curtis was preceded in death by his parents, Linn and Ann; sister, Kimberly Kay Balerud; brothers, Jacob and Kelly Balerud and Dan Kraft; brothers-in-law, Joseph Richeson and Bryon Julson, and nephew, Brent Balerud. Funeral: Monday, January 11, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Visitation: Sunday, January 10, 2010, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Curt’s Nephews Following the funeral everyone is invited to Chad and Jodee Richeson’s home, located at 1208 4th St. SW, Minot, for a time of lunch and fellowship. Burial Military Honors Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the cemetery prior to 11:00 a.m. There will be no formal procession. Our family would like to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown during this difficult time. Your thoughts and prayers are deeply appreciated and will never be forgotten.
