Leota Beryl Bakk 1920 - 2005

Leota Beryl Bakk, 84, 1800 16th St. NW, Minot, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005 in a Minot Hospital.

Leota Beryl Baldwin was born to Glenn and Beryl Baldwin at Rolette, ND on November 22, 1920. She attended a number of schools as her father was a farm hand and moved from job to job. She graduated from Rolla High School in 1939.

She married Harold Bakk on October 8, 1943, at Bisbee. They were together 60 years. She was employed at Towner County Social Services for nearly 20 years.

She was a member of Bisbee Lutheran Church until moving to Minot in 2000 when she became a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Minot. Harold passed away on March 13, 2004.

Leota was well known for designing and making hardanger embroidery, most of
which she sold or gave away for church fundraising events. One of the patterns she designed was published in a pattern book, earning an honorable mention award.

Leota is survived by daughters, Shelley Becker and Laurie (Orlan) Honadel and son, Michael (Liz) Bakk, all of Minot; grandsons, Jason Becker, Austin Texas and Shawn Bakk and his fiancée, Kausha Kraft of Minot; granddaughter, Lindsay Bakk and great-granddaughter, Adriana Bakk all of Minot. She is also survived by her two brothers, Charles (Delores) Baldwin, Klamath Falls, Oregon and Dallas (Donna) Baldwin of Corvallis, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, her parents, brother, Devere Baldwin, son-in-law, Gary Becker, nephew, Steven Baldwin and infant niece Ginger Baldwin.

Memorial Service: Saturday, March 26, 2005 at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot at 11a.m.

Burial service will be later in the spring of 2005 at the Bisbee Lutheran Cemetery, Bisbee, ND.

There will be no reviewal but friends may sign a register book on Friday, March 25, 2005 from noon to 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

In lieu of flowers the family requests any donations to be made to the charities of their choice.
