Olga Bakken 1925 - 2006 Olga was born February 16, 1925, the daughter of Knute and Lena (Brenholen) Bakken in Drake, ND. She was reared and educated in Drake and south of Velva, ND, where she attended country schools. While in Velva, she was employed by Red Owl grocery store and the Hotel Berry. Olga moved to Minot and worked for Stevenson's Ladies Ready
to Wear for twenty years, and then for Minot Laundry and Cleaners
for twenty three years, retiring in 1993. Olga was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she was active with the altar guild, and was a greeter. She was also a member of the Auxiliaries of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars clubs and the Minot Senior citizen's league. During the years she lived in Velva, she was a member of the Oak Valley Lutheran Church. She is survived by: Sister: Evelyn Koskela, Fargo, ND; many nieces and nephews, including local residents, Sanford (Gail) Slinde, Velva, Betty Pfeilschiefter, Minot and Brenda (Scott) Backes, Glenburn. Many great nieces, and great nephews also survive. Olga was preceded in death by her parents, eleven brothers and sisters and longtime friend Goldie Halstengard. Visitation: Thursday, August 24, 2006 from noon until 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot Funeral Service: Friday, August 25, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, downtown location, 218 1st St SW, Minot. Burial: Friday, August 25, 2006 at 1:15 p.m. at the Velva Community Cemetery, Velva, ND. Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church or the Legion
