Angelette G. Bakken 1912 - 2006 Angelette Roe was born on January 2, 1912, the daughter of Alvin and Esther (Lindberg) Roe, in Anamoose, ND. She was reared on the family farm, which she received her work ethic, and educated in the Anamoose area, graduating from Anamoose High School She furthered her education at the Minot State Teachers College receiving her standard teachers certificate. She taught in rural schools in the Anamoose/Guthrie area for a time. On June 30th, 1937 she was united in marriage to Lawrence S. Bakken in Drake, ND. Lawrence began a career with the Great Northern Railroad which prompted them to move to Minot. At this time she returned to college receiving a Bachelor's Degree from Minot State College. Angelette taught 1st grade with Nedrose Public School until her retirement at the age of 65. She truely loved being a teacher, and her greatest joy post-retirement was visiting with former students who she would see on various occasions. Follwing retirement, the couple stayed in the Minot area. They enjoyed traveling to North Carolina to visit their daughter. Lawrence died May 14th, 1993. Following his death, she continued to live in the Minot area until entering ManorCare in October, 2004 where she resided at the time of her death. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Minot. She enjoyed gardening, watching movies and going for her daily walk. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was always willing to help others before herself. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. She is survived by; Visitation: Sunday, October 15, 2006 from noon until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
