David Bacon, 81, Granville, ND , died Wednesday, May 13, 2009 in his home.

David was born on August 5, 1927, a son of Vernon and Esther (Boutilier) Bacon in Granville, ND. He was raised and educated in Granville.

On May 29, 1945, he was united in marriage to Lola Kramer at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Minot. They lived, ranched and farmed south of Granville. Lola died December 17, 2002. He continued to live on the farm.

David was a member of the Hope Congregational Church, where he held various positions on the council. He also served on the school board, elevator board, served as a volunteer firefighter, and served on the Township board, all of Granville.

David loved his family, his farm, his cows and the great outdoors. Watching his crops and grandchildren grow, hunting, and riding his big green combine were the loves of his life.

He was very much respected by the Granville community and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Those who shared his life: Daughter, Heide (Bryan) Fluhrer, Stanley, ND; son, Kerry (Sandy) Bacon, Granville, ND; daughter-in-law, Judy Bacon, Granville; seven grandchildren: Kelly (Heidi) Bacon, Ryan (Michelle) Bacon, Seth (Tracy) Bacon, Amy (Bill) Thomas, Sara (Dylan) Anderson, Layne (Fiancee Kaitie Nelson) Fluhrer and Tesha Fluhrer; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Arlyss (Allen) Frey, Granville, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

David was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lola; son, Rodney Bacon; daughters, Bonnie, Naomi and Melinda Bacon and sister, Beverly Woodall.

Visitation: Sunday, May 17, 2009 from 1-5 at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Funeral Service: Monday, May 18, 2009 at 2 pm Hope Congregational Church, Granville.

Burial: Granville Community Cemetery, Granville.
