Regina "Jean"
Bachmeier 1925 - 2008 Regina was born May 14, 1925 in Timber Lake, SD, the daughter of Ignatius and Ethel (Lauinger) Bachmeier. She attended a one room rural school in Lake George Township which was located about 12 miles north of Balfour, ND. The family lived one mile east of the school. Jean worked at a number of farms during her early years. She had over 18 years of baking experience in various bakeries in Fargo, Grand Forks, Larimore and Minot, ND. For several years she was employed at the Minot Air Force Base food service department. She cared for her mother from 1969 to 1981. Jean also traveled with her brother Tom and his wife to Europe and Germany. Jean entered Edgewood Vista in February of 2003 and lived there until August of 2003. She then lived in an adult foster care home in Minot for a time, before moving to ManorCare, where she lived until the time of her death. Jean was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot. She loved the children she cared for and they thought of her as Auntie Jean. Her nieces and nephews loved to stop by her house for her famous cut-out sugar cookies. Jean was a wonderful sister and aunt who will be deeply missed. Those who shared in her life, Sister, Rose Kirchofner, Minot; brothers, George (Katherine) Bachmeier, Manassas, VA and Father Ben Bachmeier, San Diego, CA; brother-in-law, Fred Wangler, Anna, TX; sister-in-law, Bernell Bachmeier, Grand Forks, ND; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins survive. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ignatius (Henrietta), Peter (Florence), Anton (Margaret), Thomas and Henry (Peggy) Bachmeier; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ethel (Milton) Schmidt, Anna (Alex) Tuchscherer; Irene Wangler and Sebastian Kirchofner. Funeral: Wednesday, May 21, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot. Visitation and vigil prayer service: Tuesday, May 20, 2008, (today) from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the vigil prayer service at 7:00 p.m. all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.
