Deborah Jean "Debby" Bachmeier • 1954- 2011 Debby was born March 23, 1954 in Minot, ND to Anton “Tony” and Mary (Bachmeier) Bachmeier. She was born with Down syndrome and at that time the doctors told her parents she might live to the age of 13. Debby beat those odds and had a wonderful life with her devoted family. She graduated at the age of 21 from the Handicapped School at Ramstad Middle School. One of her favorite country singers was Neil McCoy and she loved his song, “The Shake.” She had a wonderful time when her family took her to one of his concerts. She also enjoyed listening to Glen Campbell. She was an avid puzzler who spent many hours putting them together and she liked the puzzles that had 1000 pieces or more. She enjoyed going to church, going for coffee, knitting, camping, singing, dancing, and doing her daily chores and she loved the occasional trip to the casino. She had a wonderful time with her family on two trips to Alaska. She also loved Mark and Rinda’s dog, Lucky. Debby enjoyed life to the fullest! Whenever you saw her, you could expect to see a great big smile, and you could expect to get a great big hug. She was loved by everyone who met her and will be deeply missed. Those who shared in her life, Mother, Mary Bachmeier, Minot; brother, Mark (Rinda) Bachmeier, Norwich; sister, Rebecca Movchan, Minot; nephews, Dustin Movchan and Chris Reuer; two very special aunts, Regina Raub and Elizabeth Larson, uncle and aunt, Philip and Opal Bachmeier; great-aunts, Mary West and Lena Burgard; and numerous cousins and special cousin, Pat Merck and the Alaskan cousins, Danny and Loretta Paulk. Debby was preceded in death by her father, Anton; nephew Shannon Movchan; grandparents, Mike and Pauline Bachmeier and Bernhardt and Lena Bachmeier; aunts, Beatrice Young and Bernie Lee; great-aunt, Caroline Bertsch. Funeral: Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo’s Catholic Church, Minot, ND. Visitation and vigil service: Visitation will be Monday, from noon to 7:00 p.m. with the vigil service at 5:00 p.m., all at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND. Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
