Irene E. Ave, 92, Velva, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva.

Irene was born May 9, 1916 on the family farm south of Velva, ND to William and Martha (Fritz) Ave. She was raised and educated in that area.

Irene lived her entire life in Velva and worked for several area businesses and private people.

Irene was a member of Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva. She enjoyed going to visit her son, Larry and his friends at Williston. She loved visiting family and friends and going on the senior bus on Fridays and having lunch with her friends. Irene loved gardening and taking care of her cats.

Those who shared in her life, son, Larry Ave, Williston, ND; sister, Willadean Pettit, Minot; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends, Joe, Anita and Ben Zietz of Velva.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents, William and Martha; sisters, Laura Howe and Dora Hammer; brothers, Melvin and Louie Ave.

Funeral: Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva, ND.

Visitation: Tuesday one hour prior to the service in the church.

Burial: Private burial will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND.

Following the funeral everyone is invited to join the family for lunch and fellowship in the church fellowship hall.

Irene's family would like to thank everyone for the many acts of kindness shown during this time of loss. We would also like to thank family, friends and neighbors who helped Irene during her lifetime, and the wonderful staff at the Souris Valley Care Center and the home health organization for all the good care she received. God bless the memory of Irene Ave!
