Barbara Ave 1917 - 2004 Barbara Ave, 87, Vacaville, CA, formerly of Minot died Tuesday December 28, 2004, at Vacavalley Hospital. Barbara was born on April 19, 1917, on the family farm, near Anamoose, ND, the daughter of Hubert Leonard and Mary (Kahler) Vandeberg. She was educated in Anamoose and helped her family with the duties on the farm while growing up. She loved riding her horse, who she named Florry. Barbara was married to Louie Ave on October 22, 1937. Following their marriage they moved to Velva and then Sawyer, ND, where she was a homemaker and a mother of her 11 children. Louie died in 1989, and in 1994 she moved to Minot until 2000, when she made her home in Vacaville, CA, with her daughter, Barbara, and son-in-law, Robert, until her passing. Barbara was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sawyer and the Sawyer Senior Citizens. While living in Minot she attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church, and in Vacaville, CA, she attended Bethany Lutheran Church. Barbara loved everyone and everyone loved her in return. She was a very special mother of 11 children, and a special grandmother too, 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She enjoyed her family and friends. In her younger years she loved dancing, especially polka. She loved country music and her favorite singer was Alan Jackson. She always had a big garden and canned all her vegetables and fruits. She loved playing cards with family and friends, up into her 80's. When Barbara needed more assistance, she had three guardian angels helping her, Rose, Cindy and Carissa, her care-providers. She loved being with her family and had a genuine sparkle for life. She will be missed by all, but never forgotten.
