Alice Laura Arndt 1927 - 2010

Alice Arndt PhotoAlice Laura Arndt, 83, Minot, formerly of Butte, ND, died Wednesday, September 29, 2010 in a Minot hospital.

Alice Laura Stuber was born on March 4, 1927, a daughter of Adolph and Esther (Gravelle) Stuber at home in Velva, ND. Alice was baptized at Oak Valley Lutheran Church Parsonage on December 15, 1931 and confirmed at Oak Valley Lutheran Church on June 1, 1941. She graduated from Velva High School in 1945.

On April 8, 1947, Alice was united in marriage to Jacob Arndt Jr. in Towner, ND.  They farmed and raised their family of two girls and four boys in the community of Butte, ND. Following Jacob’s death in 1998, Alice moved into Minot, where she lived at the Dakota Terrace Apartments. 

Alice enjoyed gardening and sewing. She was active in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, the Butte American Legion Auxiliary of which at one time she was 6th District President, the Well Baby Clinic and Immunization Clinics, Benedict Resource Center and the Butte Township Board.

Surviving relatives:  Daughters: Arlene (Darrell) Michalenko, Minot, Marcella (Jeffers) Knopp, DeBary, FL; sons Darvis (Shelley) Arndt, Butte, ND, Calvin (Pam )Arndt, Minot; sister Remona (Charles) Myhre, Mandan, ND, brother Frank Stuber, Lewistown, MT, and sister-in-law Marie Arndt, McClusky, ND;  thirteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren,  numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons Ronald Gene and Wayne Jay and a brother Francis Stuber.  

Visitation: Sunday, October 3, 2010 from noon until 5 pm at Thompson Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Funeral Service: Monday, October 4, 2010, at 10:30 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Butte, ND

Burial: Butte Community Cemetery, Butte, ND

Memorials preferred to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Butte, Butte American Legion or the Minot Commission on Aging Meals on Wheels program.
