Joann M. Applegate • 1934 - 2003 Joann M. Applegate, 68, Minot, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Trinity Medical Center, Minot, of natural causes. Joann Marilyn Applegate was born on a sunny morning, August 28, 1934, in Kenmare, ND, the daughter of Cleve and Gertie (Jensen) Hanson. She attended country school north of Kenmare and graduated from Kenmare High School. Joann loved music, and took part in school activities. She twirled baton, played in band, took piano lessons and enjoyed playing piano for many years. She was united in marriage with David Clayton Applegate May 18, 1957. The unity produced two boys, James of Tulsa, OK, and Ron of Florence, MT. The loves of her life were her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and watching baseball games when her family was involved. Survivors: two sons, James Applegate and wife Debbie, Tulsa, OK, and Ron Applegate and wife Phebe, Florence, MT; five grandchildren, Dustin, Thomas, Sean, Mathew, and Brian Applegate; one sister, Fern Krenelka, Winlock, WA; one brother, Lyle Hanson and wife Elvira, Kenmare, one brother-in-law, Hartman Brekhus, Norma, ND. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Audrey Madsen and Doris Brekhus. Funeral: Monday, July 28, 2003, at 9:00 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Kenmare, ND. Visitation: Friends may sign the register Monday morning prior to the service at the church. Burial: Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND.
