Stanton "Stan"
Anderson 1931 - 2009 Stanton was born November 9, 1931 in Velva, ND, a son of Daniel and Edna (Roulier) Anderson. He was raised on the family homestead and attended country school in Bjornson Township, south of Velva and later graduated from Velva High School in 1950. Stan worked at Kramer's Texaco in Velva for a time and spent one summer in Libby, Montana, where he worked for the Forest Service. He returned to the family farm, where he farmed and ranched with his father and brother. He was a third generation farmer on the family homestead, where he lived and worked until his death. Stan was a member of Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva. He served on the Bjornson Township Board for a number of years. He was a member of the Eagle's Aerie, Minot and the National Rifle Association. He played guitar in a band, was a pool shark and loved going to auction sales. Stan was a camera buff and he enjoyed hunting and fishing with his nephews every opportunity he got. He was a favorite uncle to his nieces and nephews and a man that will be deeply missed. Those who shared in his life, sister-in-law, Lou Anderson, Velva, or "The Boss" as Stan called her; nieces and nephews, Anita (Willie) Schmidt, Arvid Anderson, Armann (Joyce) Anderson, Hollie (John) Wayne, Timm (Robin) Pretzer, Sherie Saltveit, Bernie Saltveit, Billie Jo (John) Kincaid and Darla (Rick) Helgeson; numerous great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews survive; two cousins, Durelle Hansen, Manassas, VA and Aletha Putney, Sweet Home, OR Stan was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margie Pretzer and brother, William Anderson. Funeral: Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva, ND. Visitation: Friday, February 6, 2009 (today) from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Velva, ND. Burial: Velva Cemetery, Velva, ND in the spring. Officiating Clergy: Rev.
