Rose Anderson 1920 - 2005

Rose Anderson, 85, 706 16th Ave. SE, Minot, ND formerly of Devils Lake, died Sunday, July 10, 2005 in a Minot Healthcare facility.

Rose was born on March 5, 1920, in Linton, ND, the daughter of Wendelin and Mary (Schneider) Werner. She was reared and educated in Linton, ND and moved with her family to Bismarck, ND. She met Adrian Anderson in Bismarck, ND and married him in Omaha, NE, where he was stationed in the Army during WWII. They married on November 14, 1941, prior to his shipment overseas. She moved to her husband's hometown, Doyon, ND, during his tour of duty. Together they raised three children on the family farm. She worked at Majestic Cleaners in Devils Lake until her retirement.

Rose was a hard working farm wife and each summer she would raise 800-1000 chickens for her Christmas pin money, which she would in turn spend on her children and grandchildren. She was an excellent cook, known especially for her lefse. Adrian died in May of 1988 and she moved into Devils Lake, living there until moving to Minot, ND in 1996.

Rose was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Devils Lake, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Crary, ND, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lakota, ND, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Devils Lake and Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot. She was also very active in the Altar Societies and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas of her church.

Rose is survived by her son, Richard Anderson, Burlingame, CA; son-in-law, Dennis Leith, Minot; Grandchildren, Sue Weston, Sandy Sandmeier, Sharon Njos, Daniel Leith, Paul Anderson, and Stephanie Bradbury; Ten great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; Brother, Roy Werner (Ginny Hammer), Sun Lakes, AZ, Herman (Gloria) Werner, Portland, OR; Sister, Elvina (Walt) Demaree, Seattle, WA. Many nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Robert Anderson; daughter, Mary Leith, great-grandson, Brent Weston; brothers, John, Andy, Tony and Joe; sisters, Eva Eck, Aggie Nygren and Mary Robbins.

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, July 15, 2005, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot, ND at 10:30 a.m.

Prayer Service: Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND

Burial: Devils Lake Cemetery, Devils Lake, ND on Friday, July 15, 2005 at 3 p.m. There will be a gathering following the graveside service at the White House Café in the Holiday Mall, 425 College Drive South, Devils Lake from 3:30 until 4:30 p.m.

Visitation: Thursday, July 14, 2005 from noon until 7 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.
