Robert Richard "Bobby" Anderson, 80, Minot, formerly of Donnybrook, died Saturday, December 1, 2007 in a Minot hospital, following a 7 ½ year battle with cancer.

Robert was born March 7, 1927 on the family farm in Callahan Township, Renville County, near Grano, ND, the son of Richard and Jennie (Skophammer) Anderson. When he was five years old his mother died. After his mother's passing, he was raised by Chet and Lena Ward. He attended Callahan country school and was confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church, Tolley, ND.

Bob entered the United States Army on December 19, 1945. He was with the 31st Infantry Division while in Seoul, Korea and later joined the Company B-13th Engineer Battalion as a Heavy Truck Driver while in Kaesong, South Korea. Bob received the Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. On June 4, 1947 he was honorably discharged and returned to North Dakota.

He worked a short time for Peter Kiewitt Construction during the construction of the missile sites and the Minot Air Force Base. He then returned to the farm to continue farming.

On November 4, 1947 he married Dolores Flaten in Minot. They moved to Coulee, ND for the winter, taking care of chores for Paul Whillock. In the spring they moved to Callahan Township, Renville County and farmed there until 1950. They moved back to Coulee and later farmed at Raub, Coulee, and west of Garrison, before that area was flooded. In the spring of 1952 they moved from Coulee to Ivanhoe Township, north of Donnybrook, ND, where they farmed for nearly 50 years, retiring in 2000. In the fall of 2002 they moved to Minot because of health reasons.

He was a member of the American Legion Clarence McCormack Post #195, Donnybrook, ND. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Tolley. He served as treasurer of Ivanhoe Township Board and was also a member of the Carpio Farmers Union for a number of years.

Survivors: Wife of 60 years, Dolores, Minot; sister, Elaine Zimmerman, Alexandria, MN; brother, Wallace Gerald Wussow, Parkers Prairie, MN; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Anderson, Minot, and Glenny (Maryls) Danielson, Carpio; brother-in-law, Hilmar (Bertha) Flaten, Minot; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and several cousins survive.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Jennie Anderson; foster parents, Chester and Lena Ward; sister, June Johnson; brother, Leonard Anderson; sister-in-law, Janice Wussow; brothers-in-law, Warren Johnson and Palmer Zimmerman.

Funeral: Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at 11:00 a.m., at Carpio Lutheran Church, Carpio, ND.

Visitation: Tuesday, (today) December 4, 2007, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Burial: Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., at the Grano Cemetery, Grano, ND.

Memorials are preferred to the Grano Cemetery, the Carpio Cemetery Fund or to Trinity Health Foundation, P.O. Box 5020, Minot, ND 58702 in care of Cancer Life Program.
