Pearl E. Anderson 1908 - 2005

Pearl E. Anderson, 96, 144 26th St. SW, Minot, ND, died Wednesday, January 5, 2004, at a Minot hospital.

Pearl Evelyn Roush was born on October 5, 1908, the daughter of Thurman and Emma (Wille) Roush in St. Cloud, Minnesota. The family moved to Kenyon, Minn., and later moved to Minot, ND, in 1914. She attended school in Minot, graduating from Minot High School. She then attended Minot Normal School for a short time.

Pearl was married to Clarence E. "Andy" Anderson on July 30, 1930, at Duluth, MN. They made their home in Minot, where she was employed by Anderson Drug. Mr. Anderson was a pharmacist at the Benno Drug in Minot. They later moved to Eugene, Oregon. They owned their own business in Oregon, California, and Washington. They also resided in Wisconsin and South Dakota for a short time, before returning to Minot.

Mr. and Mrs. Anderson then purchased the Dutch Mill, which they eventually sold to the Kontos brothers. In 1944, they then moved to Crosby, ND, where they owned and operated Andy's Men's Store. They owned a number of dress shops in Crosby, Devils Lake, Williston, and Bemidji, MN. They also owned and operated Bon Ton in Minot. They retired in 1962. They spent their winters in Tucson, AZ, and summers at their lake home at Lake Metigoshe. They moved back to Minot in 1965. Mr. Anderson died on November 1, 1965.

Pearl was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Minot. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star for over 50 years and became a member of the Degree of Honor.

Pearl enjoyed reading, gardening, and watching baseball and basketball. She especially enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia.

Surviving family includes: brother: Donald "Pee Wee" Roush of Minot;and a nephew: Chet Yri of Atlanta, GA;

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and a brother, Arthur Roush.

Funeral: Monday, January 10, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot, ND.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.

Visitation: Sunday, January 9, 2005, from Noon until 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials are preferred to Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund or the Shriners Hospital for Children in Minneapolis.
