Odell H. Anderson 1914- 2003

Odell H. Anderson, 89, Minot, died Thursday, December 18, 2003, in a Minot nursing home.

Odell was born on October 26, 1914, in Kenmare, ND, the daughter of Henry and Ruth (Landis) Schammel. She was baptized on November 3, 1914, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Kenmare. She attended school in Kenmare. After her school years, Odell worked for several area farmers and the Kenmare Community Hospital. In her mid-20's, she attended and received her certificate from Joseph's School of Hair Design in Minot. She worked at hair salons in Bowbells and Kenmare, before purchasing her own shop in Velva, ND.

Odell married Marvin Anderson on May 15, 1950, at First Lutheran Church in Minot. They made their home in Velva until 1957, when they moved to Minneapolis, MN. They built a new house there and Odell continued her beauty salon out of their home. In 1980, Odell and Marvin retired and moved to Sun Lakes, AZ, where they enjoyed sunshine and golf. Odell also enjoyed crafts, bowling, ceramics and crocheting. Due to health reasons, the Andersons returned to North Dakota in 2002, to be near family. They lived at Edgewood Vista in Minot. Marvin died on April 22, 2003. Odell recently entered Trinity Homes in Minot, and was living there at the time of her death.

Odell was active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and was a member of several cosmetology associations.

Survivors: sister, Vivian Ankenbauer, Mesa, AZ; sister-in-law, Thelma Anderson, Watford City, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her husband, parents and brother, Levi Schammel, preceded her in death.

Memorial Service: Monday, December 22, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot, ND.

Friends may sign the register one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND.
