Lester M. Anderson, 92, Minot, ND, died on Friday, July 24, 2009 at Trinity Homes in Minot.

Lester was born on September 11, 1916, in Parshall, ND, to Fred and Julia (Christenson) Anderson. He was raised and educated in the Glenburn area. Prior to taking over the family farm, Les was an independent trucker, and also worked as a bulk agent for Westland Oil Company in Minot for four years.

On September 21, 1941, he was united in marriage to Borgel Pfeiffer, and together they farmed in the Chatfield Township, in Bottineau County. Together Les and Borgel were members of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in rural Glenburn. In 1981, Les retired from farming and they moved to Minot, where they became members of Christ Lutheran Church. In September of 2001, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Borgel died July 4, 2002.

Les was one of the original directors of the Garrison Conservancy District and served as a director for over 40 years. He also was a director of a number of other water boards, including North Dakota Water Users Association and the Souris River Irrigation District.

Les is survived by: sons, Jim (Carol) Anderson, Minot, ND, Richard (Charishma Grace) Anderson, Philippines, Miles (Debby) Anderson, Minot, ND; daughters, Carol (David) Goretta, Chicago, IL, and Jeanne (Terry) Siegersma, Albertville, MN; nine grandchildren, Jeff (Lynette) Anderson, Melissa (Greg) Bachmeier, Shawn (Christie) Anderson, Stacy (Terry) Filkins, Suzanne Anderson, Joshua Anderson, Lindsay Anderson, Andrea Siegersma, and Kathryn Siegersma; eight great-grandchildren, Brannt Bachmeier, Ryan Bachmeier, Braden Anderson, Carson Anderson, Luke Anderson, Samantha Anderson, Makayla Anderson, and Parker Anderson.

Les was preceded in death by his wife Borgel, parents, two sisters, Mabel Romine and Doris Dreyer, and great-grandsons, Austin Anderson and Andrew Bachmeier.

Visitation: Monday, July 27, 2009 from noon until 7 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot

Funeral Service: Tuesday, July 28, 2009, at 2 pm, at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
