Anderson 1940 - 2003
Leslie A. "Les" Anderson, 63, Minot, died Wednesday,
September 10, 2003, in Bismarck, ND, following a courageous battle
with cancer.
Les was born on January 2, 1940, in Underwood, ND, the son
of Arthur and Mary (Knoblich) Anderson. He grew up and attended
school in the Underwood-Turtle Lake area. He was once married
to Georgette Travato. He later married Cecelia (Tiny) Belgarde.
As a young adult, Les was employed as a meat cutter. In 1974,
he moved to Washington State, where he was employed as a carpenter
for many years. He returned to Minot in 1994, and lived in North
Dakota until the time of his death.
Les was an accomplished musician. He could always be found playing
and singing at local jam sessions and family gatherings. One
of his favorite things was to play at the Anderson Sunshine Farm
in Washington State on holidays.
Survivors: four children, Marlo (Alice) Anderson, Mandan,
ND, Marty (Carol) Anderson, Willoughby, OH, Tracey Anderson,
Minot, and Kammie (Richard) Childres, Drake, ND; 13 grandchildren;
2 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy (Gil) Kroll, Sedro Woolley,
WA, Marilu Ludwig and Linda Feist, both of Minot, Marie Edwards
and Lynn (Dave) Miller, Mt Vernon, WA; brothers, George (Mary)
Anderson, Burlington, WA, Arthur (Betty) Anderson, Mt. Vernon,
WA, and Leon Anderson, Bismarck, ND; numerous nieces and nephews
also survive. His parents and several siblings preceded him in
death.
Memorial Service: Saturday, September 13, 2003, 1:00 p.m.
at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot, ND
Visitation: One hour prior to service time at the funeral
home.
Burial: Saturday, September 13, 2003, 3:30 p.m. at the
Turtle Lake Cemetery,
Turtle Lake, ND.
