David E. Anderson 1952 - 2011 David Eldon Anderson was born December 15, 1952, a son of Lloyd and Sarah (Dahl) Anderson, in Baudette, Minnesota. As a young child, he moved with his family to Tioga, where he was raised and educated. He graduated from Tioga High School in 1971. Dave enlisted in the United States Army March 25, 1971. He proudly served his country as a Sea Bee on a Tug Boat during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged March 22, 1974. Following his honorable discharge, he resided in the state of Washington for a short time before moving back to North Dakota. He made his home in Norma, ND, and had worked for Great Plains Lumber in Bowbells. In the summer of 1975, Dave met his future wife, Kathy M. Dodge. They were united in marriage November 12, 1976, at United Methodist Church in Bowbells. From this union, three sons were born, Jeremy, Jason, and Nicholas. He worked various jobs from IMC Potash, to bookkeeping for the Mertes Implement. He continued to work until having a heart attack in 2007, which left him disabled. In 2009, he took on the position of Veterans Service Officer for Burke County and had continued to work there until the time of his death. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Bowbells, and the Bowbells American Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and anything that had to do with the outdoors. He especially liked doing all of this with his grandson, Hunter. He also enjoyed watching his favorite football team, the Minnesota Vikings. If they were playing, you knew he was in front of the television watching them. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and all those who read his column in the Burke County Tribune. His loving family includes: wife of 34 years, Kathy, Bowbells; sons, Jeremy (Kristi) Anderson, and Nicholas Anderson, all of Bowbells; grandchildren, Hunter Anderson, and Braydan and Karli Winzenburg; brother, Irvin (Joan) Anderson, Shelton, WA; sisters, Laura Mae McLean, Spokane, WA, Carol Fugate, Fairview, MT, Janice (Steve) Brekhus, Kenmare; uncle, Jorgan Dahl, Tioga, ND; father-in-law, Roy Dodge, Minot; sister-in-law, Cora Flygare, Bowbells, brothers-in-law, Robert (Ann) Dodge, St. Paul, MN, and Leroy Dodge, Bowbells, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The graveside service will take place in the spring. Military honors accorded by the North Dakota National Honor Guard and the Bowbells American Legion.
