Borgel L. Anderson 1918 - 2002

Borgel L. Anderson, 84, 1221 6 Ave SW, Minot, died Thursday, July 4, 2002, following a brief hospitalization in a Minot Medical Center.

Borgel was born May 10, 1918, the daughter of Edward and Sophie (Strom) Pfeiffer, rural Minot. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanual Lutheran Church, Minot. Borgel was a graduate of Wolseth High School (1936) and Minot State Teachers College (1938). Following graduation, she taught school in Mountrail and Ward counties. On September 21, 1941, she married Lester Anderson in Ward County at her parents home. Lester and Borgel raised their five children on the family farm in Chatfield township, Bottineau county, where they were members of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Borgel was the church organist for many years, taught Sunday school and bible school, was a church officer and a member of ladies aide. She was a 4-H leader and charter member of the Busy Fingers Homemakers club of Bottineau County. In 1957, she resumed teaching and taught ten years as a 3rd grade and special needs teacher in the Glenburn Public School system. In 1981, Lester retired from farming and they moved to their present home in Minot, where they became members of Christ Lutheran Church. Borgel was an active member of several church groups, including ladies circle, quilting and adult education. Lester and Borgel celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in September of 2001.

Survivors: Borgel is survived by her husband, Lester, Minot; three sons, Jim (Carol) Anderson, Minot, Richard (Judy) Anderson, Deerwood, MN, and Miles (Debby) Anderson, Minot; two daughters, Carol (David) Goretta, Glen Ellyn IL, and Jeanne (Terry) Siegersma, St. Michael, MN; nine grandchildren, Jeff (Lynette) Anderson, Melissa Anderson, Shawn (Christie) Anderson, Stacy (Terry) Filkens, Suzanne Anderson, Joshua and Lindsay Anderson, and Andrea and Kathryn Siegersma; two great-grandchildren, Brannt and Samantha Anderson; sister, Sylvia Erickson, Bellevue, WA; sister-in-law, Mabel Romine, Minot; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Borgel was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Rohlin, Cecil, Lyle and Pat Pfeifer, two sisters, Vera Eng and Vanetta Wold, and one great-grandson, Austin Jeffrey Anderson.

Funeral: Sunday, July 7, 2002, at 2:00 pm at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.

Visitation: Saturday, July 6, 2002 from noon until 5:00 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.
