Donald H. Almy • 1937 - 2006 Donald H. Almy, 68, Minot, died Sunday, February 19, 2006 in a Minot hospital. Donald was born on May 11, 1937 at Minot, to Hallie and Ethel Irene (Rienke) Almy. He was raised on a farm in Harrison Township and graduated from Minot Model in 1955. Donald was in the Army Reserve from December of 1954 to December of 1962. He worked for United Buckingham Freight Lines, Midwest Motor Express, Minot Restaurant Supply and for Office Systems Inc. as an office/service technician and service/office supervisor. In 1980 he married Nola Slapnicka and was a partner in Nola's Lounge upon his death. He is survived by his wife, Nola, Minot; stepchildren, Randy (Brenda) Slapnicka, Payson, AZ, Curt Slapnicka, Minot; sister, Kay (James) Callahan, Marysville, CA; grandchildren, Austin and Jessica Slapnicka, Payson, AZ, and Ryan and Chad Slapnicka, Williston, ND; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hallie and Irene Almy; sister, Hallie Irene, and a stepdaughter, Karen Slapnicka Lignian. Funeral: Saturday, February 25, 2006, at 2:00 p.m., at Vincent United Methodist Church, Minot. Visitation: Friday from noon to 7:00 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, ND.
