As a young woman, Lorna worked for the Dutch Mill and Riverside nightclubs in Minot. She married Marvin L. Allex on November 27, 1950, in Underwood, ND. They lived and raised their family their entire lives in Minot, except from 1961 through 1965, when they lived in Bismarck. She loved doing crafts and needlework, and was an exquisite crotcheter and made many afghans and quilts for her family. She loved and spoiled her animals as though they were part of the family. She was a good singer and could yodel as well. An ongoing project of hers was working on a giant jigsaw puzzle, for which a special table was built and took up nearly a whole room.
