Anna Mary (Marie) Alg 1917 - 2005 Anna Mary (Marie) Alg, 87, Minot, died Tuesday, July 26, 2005 in a Minot hospital. Anna Mary (Marie) Elm was born September 4, 1917, in Elms Township, Bottineau City, rural Glenburn, ND. She was the eldest daughter, second of eight children of Louis and Margaret (Carruthers) Elm. She was graduated form Notre Dame Academy in Willow City. In 1938, Anna met Percy Alg in Minot, and the couple was united in marriage on April 11, 1940 at St. Philomena's Catholic Church in Glenburn. Anna Marie was a homemaker, and raised the couple's three sons, Cecil, Philip, and Michael. She was also a foster mother for several children through the years. Percy passed away on September 18, 1997. After her husband's death, Marie dedicated herself to helping others. At the age of eighty, she became a volunteer at the Trinity Hospital in Minot, working mostly with dialysis patients. She was known to most as "Marie," even though many thought her middle name should have been "Angel." Marie was very devoted to church activities throughout her entire life. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother. Marie was a charter member of Little Flower Catholic Church and St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. She was currently a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She taught CCD classes from 1960's through the 1980's at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church. She is survived by: Sons, Cecil (Dory) Alg, Minot; Philip (Linda) Alg, Keller, TX; Michael (Renee) Alg, Shakopee, MN; 14 grandchildren: 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Mosser, Minot; Catherine Zeretzke, Deering, and Regina Iverson, Redwood City, CA, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, brothers, Matt Elm, Laurence Elm, John Elm, and sister, Frances Lang. Mass of Christian Burial: Saturday, July 30, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. Visitation: Friday, July 29, 2005 from noon to 5:00 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, and from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. Vigil Prayer Service: Friday, July 29, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. Burial: Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Philomena's Catholic Cemetery, Glenburn, ND.
