Blaine J. Albertson, 52, Norwich, died Saturday, November 15, 2008, at 12:14 am, with his wife, and family friend at his side in his home.

Blaine was born on July 27, 1956, a son of Donald and Darlene (Israel) Albertson in Cando, ND. He was raised and educated in Churches Ferry, ND. Blaine furthered his education, first attending Lake Region Junior College, where he studied Liberal Arts, then obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, attended the University of Colorado receiving his graduate degree in Rehabilitation, and earning a Masters of Arts in Counseling from the University of Colorado in 1983. In 2005, Blaine became licensed in North Dakota as first a Licensed Professional Counselor, then in 2007 as a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor.
Blaine began a private practice in Granby, CO where he served as an individual and family counselor from 1987-1992. He began employment at North Central Human Service Center in 1993, in which he was initially hired as a MI Case Manager and has been promoted to different positions during his employment. In 1995, Blaine accepted the position of Regional Intervention Coordinator where he was responsible for direct supervision of a crisis residential facility for individuals with addiction and mental health problems. As a skillful therapist he provided an array of counseling services during his tenure at NCHSC. In 2005, Blaine decided to move into the Adult Services Unit to use his counseling background. In 2006 he received his Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. Blaine was well respected by the courts, local psychiatric inpatient and community mental health outpatient clinics for the work he did assuring that clients were served in the Minot community. He touched so many lives with his unique abilities as a counselor, co-worker and friend and will be missed by all.
On July 10, 1993, Blaine was united in marriage to Theresa Peltier in Churches Ferry, ND. They made their home in Minot until 1999 when they moved to the farm near Norwich, ND. Blaine was a member of United States Olympic Handicapped team from 1983-1987.

Those who shared in his life: Wife Theresa, Norwich; children: Marie Meinerz-Golding, Minot; Stephanie Meinerz, Denver, CO and Kevin Peltier, Hinton , OK; six grandchildren: Austin, Christian, Caleb Peltier, Ethan, Riely Johnson, and Claire Golding; parents: Donald and Darlene Albertson, Churches Ferry, ND; sister: Lori ( Bill) Collins, Indianapolis, IN; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Blaine was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents

Visitation: There will be no reviewal, however, friends may sign a register book one hour prior to service time in the church.

Memorial Service: Friday, November 21, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot

Burial: A private burial will take place at a later time.
