Shirley E. Ahmann 1935 - 2003

Shirley E. Ahmann, 68, 407 5th Ave., Max, ND, died Friday, May 02, 2003, at her home.

She was born January 24, 1935, in Aneta, ND the daughter of Eddie J. and Selma (Freelander) Jacobson. She attended Minot High School and then worked for Ellison's Department Store in Minot.

On October 25, 1954, Shirley married John Ahmann at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. They farmed in the Foxholm area for one year before moving to the South Prairie area, where they farmed for four years. In 1959, they moved to Max, ND, and had a grain and dairy farm in Poplar Township, McLean County. John died on April 12, 1998. Shirley continued to live in Max until time of her death.

Shirley was a member of Immanuel Conception Church at Max the Homemakers Club and the Max Library Association.

Shirley dealt black jack for a number of years and she loved meeting different people and being with friends and family. She also enjoyed working in her yard and garden.

Survivors: son, Mark Ahmann (Carrie), Max; daughters, Lea Rae Hackett-Tallman (Pat), Hughesville, MO, Kathy Smith (Ken), Minot, and Darcy Klain (Durnell), Turtle Lake, ND; grandchildren, Jessica Hackett, Derek Hackett, Celeste and Dustin Voeller, Kelby Smith, Jesse and Cody Ahmann, Tyler, Dalyce and Trey Klain; step-grandchildren, Nicole Espeseth and Toniel Smith; brother, Eddie A. Jacobson, Texas; sisters, Eldora Kamke, Ardis Painter (Ron), all of Minot, Connie Polak (Ray), Scottsdale, AZ, and Linda Guidinger (Don), Minot; brothers in law, Alvin Ahmann (Lorriane), Duane Ahmann (Jeannette), all of Minot, Tom Ahmann (Marge), Foxholm; sisters in law, Letta Tait (Ken), Diane Moore (Bill), all of CA, Anna Mae Plemel (Tom) Minot, and Carol Limke (LeRoy), Carpio, numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, brothers in law, Everett, Delmar, and Kenny Ahmann and sisters in law, Willore Cowles, Blanche Ahmann and Dorothy Ahmann.

Mass of Christian Burial: Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot

Visitation: Tuesday, May 6, 2003, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Prayer Service: Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at 7 p.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, Minot.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Park, Minot.
