Lawrence "Larry" Ahmann 1933 - 2005 Lawrence "Larry" Ahmann, 71, Minot, died Sunday, April 24, 2005, in a Minot Hospital. Lawrence was born September 4, 1933 in Minot, ND, the son of Emil and Martha (Stammen) Ahmann. He was reared in the Foxholm and Minot areas, attending school at the rural Stammen School near Foxholm, and St. Leo's Catholic School, graduating in 1951. Larry enlisted into the United States Marine Corps in January of 1953. He served in the Korean Conflict before being honorably discharged in January of 1956. Larry attended numerous flight schools including the Spartan School in Tulsa, OK. He held a commercial airplane and helicopter license, and an instructor rating. He did crop spraying in North Dakota for Farmer's Spraying Service and the Parshall Spraying Service, he had also owned and operated the Ahmann Flying Service, and was a Cessna dealer. In 1972, Lawrence was united in marriage to Carolyn Patterson in Bottineau, ND. Following their marriage the couple made their home in Minot, where Lawrence was a flight instructor and a crop sprayer. To this union two children were born, Troy and LeAnn. The couple was later divorced. Larry was a member of the Minot American Legion, and a former member of the Elks Lodge. He is survived by: son: Troy (Stacey) Ahmann. Lincoln, ND; daughter: LeAnn (Jason) Hartwig, Watford City; brothers: Dan Ahmann, Minot; Gary (Bobbi) Ahmann, Blaine Ahmann, WA; sisters: Virginia (Bud) Slavick, Minot and Dorothy M. Ahmann, Minot; sister-in-law: Karen (Reub) Hoffer, Minot; one grandson: Quinton Hartwig, Watford City, and one step grandson: Carson Hartwig, Watford City; numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by: his parents, brother Donald, sister-in-law, Dorothy J. Ahmann, and two nephews.
