Eleanor Ackerman 1932 - 2002

Eleanor Ackerman, 70, 820 5th St. NE, Minot, died Monday at her home of natural causes.

She was born June 22, 1932, North of Dodge, ND to Gottlieb and Elsie (Seidel) Faser. She was reared and educated in a rural area North of Dodge. Her elementary school years were completed in a rural country school near Dodge. She graduated from Halliday High School in 1950. She then attended Dickinson State College. Following college, she taught school in Antelope and in rural Killdeer.

In the latter 1950's, Eleanor moved to Bismarck where she worked for the Burleigh County ASCS (Agricultural, Stabilization and Conservation Service). In 1964, she moved to Minot and became employed at St. Leo's Rectory as the church secretary. On November 24, 1971, she married Peter Ackerman in Minot. They lived in Minot, where she continued working at St. Leo's Church. At the time of her death, she was the office and finance officer for the church. All together, she was employed at St. Leo's Catholic Church for 39 years.

She was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church and the St. Monica's Guild at the church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Minot.

Survivors: husband, Peter Ackerman, Minot; brother, Elmer Faser and his wife, Joan, Peoria, AZ; nephews, John (Suzie) Faser, Surprise, AZ and Robert "Bob" (Bo) Faser, Goodyear, AZ and niece, Lisa Faser and fiancé Michael Butterfiel, Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents Gottlieb and Elsie Faser and a sister, Lorraine Faser.

Funeral Mass: Saturday, 10:00 a.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot

Visitation: Friday from 9 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Rosary recitation: Friday, 7:00 p.m. at St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot.

Private family burial will take place at Rosehill Memorial Park.
