Melvin Abrahamson 1925- 2006 He was born November 18, 1925, in Minot, the son of Henry and Berma (Ross) Abrahamson. He and his brother Sylvan were the first set of twins born at Trinity Hospital. He was reared and educated in the Sawyer and Minot areas. On November 19, 1943, he married Phyllis Bondly in Minot. They farmed and raised dairy cows on their farm south of Surrey. Melvin also worked as a bus driver for the Surrey Public Schools for a number of years. They remained on the farm until retiring in 1995. In 2002, they moved to Minot where they since have lived. He once served on the Grassland School board in New Prairie Township, south of Surrey, ND. He was also a member of the Minot Eagles Lodge. Melvin was a real family man. His best times were those spent with his children and his grandchildren, and his favorite gathering place with them was on the houseboat cruising around the lake. It didn't get better than this on a summer day in North Dakota, he felt -- unless you count his farm. He was a lover of the land. Working that land, his land, tending to his cows was the way life ought to be lived. He believed deeply in that, it was America. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Phyllis; children; Ronald (Cindy) Abrahamson, Lemmon, SD, Roxanne (Oscar) Corum, Minot, Linda (Don) Severson, Spring, TX, Randy (Anne) Abrahamson, Minot; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
