Joseph A. Abernathey 1985 - 2009 Joseph Andre' Abernathey was born March 14, 1985, a son of Wayde and Sandra (Ihli) Abernathey, in Minot, ND. He attended Mohall and Bottineau public schools and graduated from Raleigh High School in 2003. Joe then attended the Minot Job Corps and had worked in the Minot area for various businesses, including the Minot Daily News and the Recycling Center. He also worked in security, construction and as a cab dispatcher. He enjoyed sports, riding motorcycles, snowmobiling, mudding with his dad, playing pool and darts, and reading Western novels. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Joe was a spirited child from the day of his conception. As
a child his parents and family members were constantly kept on
their toes. As a teenager, he tried our patience, but always
found love. As a young man, he was a strong willed, kind and
loving person who we were very proud of. There wasn't anything
he wouldn't do to help someone out, even a perfect stranger.
He often put his own needs and wishes aside to help others. He
was always happy and outgoing; if someone was upset he would
do anything he could to make them smile. Dryden, Collin, and
his family were the center of his world. He had plans to enroll
in the fall at MMI in Arizona for motorcycle mechanics. He was
a blessing from God, whom we were allowed to have in our lives
for a short time. His smile, the twinkle in his eyes and yes,
even his constant pranks will be missed by many. His memories
will live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved
him. Joseph was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Duane Abernathey, Sr., and paternal grandmother, Olive Beryl Pennington. Funeral: Saturday, March 21, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. at
