Desiree Marie Vogel 1986 - 2010
Desiree Marie Vogel, 23, of Sawyer, proceeded to eternal life on Monday, December 20, 2010 while at home surrounded by her loved ones.
To the world you may be one person BUT to one person you may be the world!
Desiree Marie was born on December 29, 1986 in Minot, ND to David and Shirley (Anderson) Vogel. Growing up on the family farm north of Sawyer was the highlight of her life; she enjoyed life to the fullest with no regrets. Desiree graduated from Sawyer High School in 2005 where she was active in basketball, volleyball, band, chorus, Student Council, LEOS and class president. In May 2010, Desiree’s educational dream became a reality, with hard work and dedication; she graduated from Minot State University with a BS in Marketing, Management and International Business.
Desiree became actively employed at Pizza Hut, South Broadway location, in 2004 and was a member of the team at the time of her passing. Pizza Hut provided Desiree a positive working atmosphere throughout her college years; it is here that Desiree became the bright “sunshine” of her valued co-workers. Desiree also worked part-time at the Steerhead Saloon, a place she had wanted to work at ever since Aunt Donna purchased, she couldn’t wait until she turned 21 (she counted down the days). Desiree met so many wonderful people and great friends at both places of employment. Memories that will live on forever.
Desiree enjoyed all parts of her everyday life, especially spending time with her family. Whether she was a part of a family tradition making lefse, attending a family function (good times), taking all the little cousins to the pool, enjoying an evening at the MSU Summer Theatre (Grease was great) or just enjoying “special” times at the lake. Desiree also enjoyed the good times with her friends, taking in a movie / dinner night, bowling, dancing and the best memories of all – the fair concerts. If Desiree was a part of the plans you can bet it was going to be a GREAT time! Desiree always saw the positive side of everything.
Desiree treasured the love she received from her brothers the most. The time spent with the two of them was considered “the best times of her life”. Desiree was so proud of her family, she recently shared her memories of the bond she shared with her mom – the one word that comes to mind is “WONDERFUL”. A daughter couldn’t ask for someone more special than what she had.
According to Desiree, this past year has been a life lesson to live life as if today is your last day… dance as if no one is watching…sing like no one’s listening. The diagnosis and treatment of Desiree’s cancer was a roller coaster ride, she didn’t know what to expect from one day to the next BUT she always kept her faith, a positive attitude and her big, bright smile. Throughout this journey Desiree also had to the opportunity to meet some amazing individuals with as much determination as she had. The “Gift of Life” Transplant House in Rochester provided Desiree with the comfort of new friends and prayers. Desiree’s determination to live..love..evolve will forever provide her with the greatest gift ever, life.
Desiree’s loving family, the ones who shared her many memories include her mother, Shirley Vogel; brothers; Dustin (Becky) Vogel, Logan, ND David Vogel Jr., Sawyer, ND: nieces; Olivia and Gracie Keller. Desiree was surrounded in love by her many aunts and uncles; Godmother Donna Beeter, Godfather Dale (Peggy) Anderson, Tim (Cindy) Anderson, Julius (Dorothy) Vogel, Janice (Jerry) Kville, Dale (Gina) Vogel. Several cousins in which she had created a bond that will never be broken, a loving spirit that will live on forever. Half-sisters, Karla Neary and Annette McCormick, half-brother Craig Vogel and several step-nieces and nephews.
Desiree was preceded in death by her father David Vogel, Grandparents Frank and Marie Vogel and Donald and Norma Anderson and Uncle Bruce Beeter.
