Lt. Col. David Patterson
1955 - 2004 Lt. Col. David Patterson, 49, 131 Coral Court, MAFB, Minot, died Saturday, September 18, 2004 in a Minot Hospital. David was born on April 6, 1955,at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, the son of Malcolm Ryan (Pat) and Lois Jean (Copp) Patterson. They lived in various areas of the country while David was growing up. He graduated from Boone High School, Iowa in 1973. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1973 and served until 1977. Upon his discharge from the Air Force, he enrolled in Air Force ROTC at Iowa State University. He graduated from there in 1981 with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant with the United States Air Force in 1981. He married Sheree L. Lammers on August 25, 1979, in Graettinger, Iowa. After his commission in the US Air Force, they were stationed at Chanute Air Force Base, Il., Ellsworth Air Force Base, SD, March Air Force Base, CA, Dyess Air Force Base, TX, Langley Air Force Base, VA, Minot Air Force Base, ND, Edwards Air Force Base, CA, Barksdale Air Force Base, LA, Maxwell\Gunter Air Force Base, AL. and then Minot Air Force Base. At the time of his death he was the 5th Maintenance Group Deputy Commander (5MXG/CD) for the 5th Bomb Wing at Minot Air Force Base, ND. He also received a Master's degree in Business Administration in Aviation from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal with seven oak leaf clusters, the Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Air Force Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Southwest Asia Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal with star. David was a member of the American Legion, the Veteran of Foreign Wars, the Military Officers Association of America, the Sons of the American Revolution and was the Best Bald Deputy at Minot Air Force Base.
