Bernice O. McFarlin 1929 - 2010

Bernice McFarlin PhotoBernice O. McFarlin, 80, Minot, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in her home.

Bernice Olive Kluken was born December 17, 1929, in Williston, ND, to Martin and Ida (Clauson) Kluken.  She graduated from Williston High School in 1947. 

Bernice was employed by First International Bank and Trust in Williston, until her marriage to Les McFarlin on December 15, 1953.  Bernice and Les farmed and raised their two children, Sherry and Lee in Ray, ND until 1972, when they moved to Velva, ND.  They later moved to Minot where Bernice was employed by Trinity Hospital.  She also worked in home health care for several years.

Bernice’s husband Les passed away on February 3, 1987.

Bernice volunteered at the Minot Public Library for many years.  She enjoyed sewing, going to movies and her regular morning walks with friends at the mall.  She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and looked forward to their visits.  During the past few years she lived at home and was cared for by her son, Lee.

Those who shared in her life, son, Lee McFarlin, Minot; daughter, Sherry (Kieth) Lieberg, Grand Forks, ND; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Nichol, Minot, Delores Barke, Williston, and Judy Kluken, Duluth, MN; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bernice was preceded in death by her husband Les McFarlin; her parents, Martin and Ida Kluken, and one brother, Martin Kluken.

Funeral:  Friday, September 24, 2010 (today) at 1:00 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot, ND.

Visitation:  Today one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial:  Today at 4:00 p.m. at Sunset Rest Cemetery, Ray, ND.
