Phillip E. Erickson 1935- 2010 Phillip Eugene Erickson was born April 19, 1935, a son of Talmer and Bertha (Score) Erickson, in Minot, ND. He was raised in the Carpio area and educated at a rural school near Carpio. He graduated from Carpio High School in 1953. Following his high school graduation, he worked for area farmers until enlisting in the United States Navy March 7, 1956. He was honorably discharged October 7, 1957. Phillip married Sharon Vangsness July 8, 1961, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Roseglen, ND. They made their home in Minot, where he worked at the Peavey Elevator for nine years. In 1967, he began employment at Lindsay Brothers, now known as, Western Steel & Plumbing, as a truck driver. He was a hard working, dedicated employee until ill health forced him to retire in 1995. He later became employed at the Minot Park District. He was a former member of Carpio Lutheran Church and was currently a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Minot. Phillip enjoyed good conversation with his family and many friends. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. His grandsons were his pride and joy. Surviving family includes: devoted wife of 49 years, Sharon, Minot; sons, Troy (Leah) Erickson, Minot, and Shane Erickson, Minot; grandsons, Travis and Trevor Erickson; brother, Morris (Edna Mae) Erickson, Minot; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Anderson, Ault, CO, and Laurie (Gerald) Schmidt, Solen, ND; brothers-in-law, Darwin (Alice) Vangsness, Ryder, and Dean Lafferty, Champaign, IL; a very special niece, Kellie Gualazzi, Bloomington, IL; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
