Connie Rae Beyer 1943- 2010

Connie Rae Beyer PhotoConnie Rae Beyer, 67, Minot, died in her home, surrounded by her loving family, on October 17, 2010.  She fought a courageous and brave battle with pancreatic cancer.

Connie was born on October 2, 1943, in Rugby, ND, the daughter of Fred and Frances Shafer.    She was raised on a farm near Bantry, ND, and graduated from Towner High School in 1961.  Upon graduation she attended New York Hairdressing Academy in Fargo, graduating in 1962.

The next 20 years she worked as a hairdresser starting at Cal’s Beauty Shop in Minot.  On April 11, 1964, she married Barry Beyer in Makoti, ND.   They moved to Parshall, where they owned and operated the Parshall Barber and Beauty Shop for several years. She and her family moved to Minot and she started working at Artistry Hairstylists.  They later moved back to Parshall, where they owned and operated the Beyer Ford dealership.  The family moved back to Minot and she started her 22-year career at Trinity Medical Group, where she worked in the insurance billing department.

As a young girl she was a “tomboy” and enjoyed the outdoors and horses and playing basketball.   Her love of the outdoors followed her throughout her life, and she enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their place at Van Hook.

While living in Parshall, she was a member of First Lutheran Church, a member of the church’s council and a member and President of the Mrs. Jaycees. She also started a 4-H chapter in Parshall.  While living in Minot, she was a charter member of Bread of Life Lutheran Church.   She was active in bowling both in Parshall and Minot for many years where she held many offices and received many trophies.

Connie was a mischievous prankster.   She was always ready for a good time and had a great sense of adventure and humor.   She won numerous awards at Trinity for her creative Halloween costumes.  She loved to play any game and do puzzles.  She was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.   She had a great love of her children and grandchildren, enjoying going to their activities when she could, cooking Sunday dinner for them, and loved to do “projects” with her grandchildren.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her and will be held in their hearts forever.

Connie is survived by the family she so dearly loved including her husband,  Barry of Minot, son, Tracy Beyer, Minot; daughters, Tammy (Dave) Rodman, Minot; and Tricia (Robert) Scoby, Bennett, CO,  four grandchildren,  Kaylee Thorp, Nathan, Leah and Noah Scoby;  sisters, Janice Chigro, Peoria, AZ and Kathy (Mike) Rudolph, Garrison; brothers-in-law, Richard Thomas, Coronado, CA,  and Bryan (Brenda) Beyer, Minot;  sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Loren) Olson, Plaza, ND, Connie (Bill) Poff, Weslaco, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.
